Have been getting some very fun feedback on this first foray into “iMovie Movie Trailers”. Decided to finally start making my YouTube channel a little cooler, starting with it’s own little movie trailer below:
In other news, I have actually notified some of my most persistent (and physically tough) friends that they can get on my case if I don’t get the video light kit sorted out here for indoor video… because the lighting in my home office is fantastic for 24/7 maximum productivity (well it’s tailored to me, I don’t know if it would ever work for anyone else) but is also TERRIBLE for most videos. This also means I will probably need to dust things here more aggressively from now on. Groupon for house cleaning anyone? hmmmmm.
There’s also a whole new version of GiryaGirl.com in the works and a stop-gap mobile solution for the existing site you’re reading right now in the sooner sooner works. It’s all good, I don’t want you guys getting here on your phone and not be able to read what’s going on. That’s just no fun for either of us.
Proud to report that we did the SSST challenge AGAIN last night (no, this is not a “cry for help”) along with some interesting experiments with perceived difficulty during loaded carries with kettlebells vs Ultimate Sandbag. The short answer is… Zercher carries, even at a few pounds lighter than two kettlebells = VERY difficult. The fun became more intense as the placement of this loaded carry within the given circuit was mixed up. Starting with a 160ft Zercher Ultimate Sandbag (about 50lbs in the Strength shell – which is big if you’re little like me) carry insured that all the other exercises following were that much more… “special” since I wasn’t really taking breaks at all during the early rounds. Here’s last night’s general write up:
Warm up with standing joint mobility exercises (the ground was cold and wet), a few swings…then.
- 10 Minute SSST with 12kg (my friend opted for 12kg for the first 100 snatches then dropped down to the 8kg to keep going)
After some water drinking and laughter, we contined with 5 rounds of this evil little thing:
- 10 heavy kettlebell swings (I brought out the 36kg for this)
- 160 foot (round trip) Ultimate Sandbag front loaded (Zercher) carry OR double 12kg kettlebell carry in rack*
- 10 Straight leg raises on the parallel dip bars, with arms held straight and engaged. NO MOMENTUM!
- 10 squats (choice of Ultimate Sandbag, any kettlebell present, double kettlebell)
After putting those items back in the car, I brought out a seemingly innocent looking 6lb Sandbell from Hyperwear and we did a sort of evil 8 round “familiar interval pattern” of the ab passaround exercise. We need to make a new video of this one sometime because you might like to use some of the new made up cuss words I came up with during this 4 minutes of “why did I say we should do this?!?!” The partner version of the “pass around” is that we say in the suspended “hollow” position while passing the sandbell behind the back and over to the other partner. Ooof! 20 seconds work, 10 short seconds rest.. 8 rounds… and I started to lose it on the last few!
Here’s a video of the regular “passaround”
