My main arguments against planning out meals too far in advance, or buying meal plans from others are:
- I change my mind a lot, and my best meals (that result in shared recipes) are nearly spontaneous.
- Don’t tell ME what to eat.
- I often take advantage of seasonal (read “on sale”) organic foods.
While I can certainly see the value in diet-specific or contest prep (if that’s your sport and your goal) meal plans–those things that have each meal scheduled out with a shopping list–I’m too much of a black sheep to go along with it. Often the flavor profile is different than what I crave or might not fit the odd region of Florida. The other issue is, let’s say organic bok choy is on sale and it looks good. You’re darn skippy I’m buying and eating that TONIGHT. I also love to work around “obstacles” and once again having to make due or be creative has led to some of the recipes people love the most.
Though, at the end of the day, if you have perfectly ripe fresh organic fruits and vegetables at your disposal, the easiest and tastiest low-fuss meals can be made with them and simply preparing them with a high quality olive or coconut oil, sea salt, and fresh black pepper. I’ll add high quality meat and or eggs to most dishes too, but have not really had the need to run out to buy exotic baking alternatives etc. etc. You get the idea.
Having our “Ultimate Publix” closed for remodeling/rebuilding/whatever-weirdness-they-are-doing-over-there has made me drive a little farther for reliable access to organic fresh veggies. And since that’s an absolute MUST in my world, finding something like Space Girl Organics (now called CFL Organics) is that much more important. Don’t be a silly skeptic like me and have it take receiving a delivery for a friend to convince you of the value of a program like this. (Start googling to find something similar near you if you’re not in East Central Florida) Anyway… here’s an unpacking video I made just a few minutes ago while digging through my friend’s order. After seeing the incredible delicious quality and the careful care that had gone into this order, I was so convinced that I signed up for their program immediately. I also shared some very simple solutions for the green beans and my special gift she ordered for me!!!!!
Are you in the generally East area of Central Florida? (or even if you aren’t sure, it’s worthwhile to check… the first thing they ask is your zipcode) Then check out Space Girl Organics / CFL Organics,
they have one of the most flexible plans available (you can even select stuff specifically to be delivered, and set up a profile so you will never get things you don’t like! –or are avoiding on your eating plan.) Learn more about Space Girl / CFL Organics and Sign Up Here (tell them I sent you)
