Practicing the RKC 6 – A Kettlebell Workout

December 10, 2011 By Adrienne Harvey Leave a Comment

Pretty sure I got this complex or a version of it from Tim Shuman and/or Geoff Neupert (who is really good at that whole complex thing), although after talking to some friends it's actually really really close to Jon Engum's Deep Six workout  Anyhow, one of my clients did a doubles (not the snatches) version this week as well.   Its a good way to practice all six of the … [Read more...] about Practicing the RKC 6 – A Kettlebell Workout

October 30, 2011 By Adrienne Harvey Leave a Comment

I observed and conducted interviews with some of the very top people in the RKC community here at the Chicago RKC - the first in the Chicago area.  More importantly, this marks the 10 year anniversary of the certification program.  Needless to say spirits are high and LOTS of learning is going on. … [Read more...] about Chicago RKC 2011 – Conducting Interviews and Making Friends

It really did change everything – at least in my experience….

Big stack of books on a wood floor

Recently on Facebook, Dragon Door and John DuCane asked what everyone thought was "the most influential fitness book of all time?"  Of course, questions like that give me brain freeze because I think back to the dawn of civilization and consider all the books in other languages I haven't read, etc. in short - total overthinking.  I should have just looked over to one of the … [Read more...] about It really did change everything – at least in my experience….

Kettlebell Workout Inspired by the Chicago RKC Workshop

September 27, 2011 By Adrienne Leave a Comment

RKC Workshops are ALWAYS inspiring - even if you're there running around as a sober theoretical lovechild of Barbara Walters and Hunter S. Thompson. (I was interviewing people at the event - which was a fantastic experience I hope to repeat).    During a few moments of resting/observation/backing up files to my computer I managed to catch a few of the lectures and brought home … [Read more...] about Kettlebell Workout Inspired by the Chicago RKC Workshop

Chicago RKC Day Two Recap

September 10, 2011 By Adrienne Leave a Comment

Writing to you from the midst of the 2nd day of the Chicago RKC certification workshop - hanging with DragonDoor.TV's Amanda Salas and getting her hooked on my rapidly disappearing stash of Green & Black's 85% cacao chocolate.  We are having a great time and getting a ton of important interviews.  There are so many impressive and inspiring people involved with this … [Read more...] about Chicago RKC Day Two Recap

End of Orlando RKC – Sunday Part Three – The Love of Friends, Heavy Shadows, Victory, Resolve.

August 24, 2011 By Adrienne Leave a Comment

It was such a great feeling knowing that 90% of the people I invited to participate as "victims" for the teaching test portion of the Orlando RKC showed up - but what I didn't know is that many of them stuck around to watch the grueling conclusion... the dreaded oft-talked-about-in-hushed-tones GRAD WORKOUT.   This workout must be completed in order to become an RKC - even if … [Read more...] about End of Orlando RKC – Sunday Part Three – The Love of Friends, Heavy Shadows, Victory, Resolve.

More Questions about RKC Workshops

July 22, 2011 By Adrienne Leave a Comment

Q: How big a deal is it to stay at the hotel? I'm local to the cert, and it wouldn't be a huge deal to drive home (15-30 mins depending on traffic). Also, I have a 2 1/2 yr old and a 7-month old, and I'm thinking that putting my mommy hat back on might bring me out of a zone I need to stay in. Every time I think that staying in a hotel so close to home is silly, I think about … [Read more...] about More Questions about RKC Workshops

A Much Needed Recharge, Technique Testing & a Gifted ‘Beginner’s’ ‘Sexy Exercise’ – Sunday Part 2

July 3, 2011 By Adrienne Harvey Leave a Comment

Sunday at the Disney Wide World of Sports Pavilion thankfully began with another much needed Qigong Morning Recharge session - which unfortunately seemed all too short.   ...Could easily be talked into attending a certification workshop for this as well - (HINT HINT, DRAGON DOOR).  Afterwards we reassembled into our teams for one final practice of the … [Read more...] about A Much Needed Recharge, Technique Testing & a Gifted ‘Beginner’s’ ‘Sexy Exercise’ – Sunday Part 2
