Dale’s Raw Protein Bar – Vanilla Cashew with Flax Seeds

This particular flavor is special for a few different reasons, the first of which is it happens to be the surprise favorite of myself and several friends. You’d think we’d pick a chocolate flavor as a favorite, but… the Vanilla Cashew with Flax Seeds bar (scroll to find it) is hands down the dark horse winner.   It’s also pretty astounding in terms of nutritional wonderment… and part of the the “low carb” options from Dale’s Raw Foods that I wholeheartedly recommend.   The nearly unbelieveable nutritional stats on this thing say just 2g of sugar – the other carbohydrates are apparently fiber – and there’s quite a lot of fiber there too – 9g to be exact.   The whopping 22g of protein mainly come from pea, rice, and hemp protein, making this bar suitable for vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores as well.  They tend to be a bit “spendy” for some budgets, but you should always be sure to check the Special Offers page to find when your soon-to-be-favorite bars will be on some kind of crazy sale too.

vanilla cashew

In particular, the understated but decidedly sweet Vanilla Cashew bar is really really good as a breakfast treat with black coffee or a double espresso.  The texture is like a cold cookie dough, so if that’s something you miss, then look out as this addictive bar starts taking over refrigerator space.  With the high fiber content though, eat slowly and be sure to drink a lot of water after your coffee breakfast/break too!  And while they should be refrigerated, you’ll find that these bars are still a convenient high protein “real food” option at work, the gym, picnic etc.
