Dale’s Raw Protein Bar – Mint Chocolate Chip with Cacao Nibs

August 7, 2013 By Adrienne Harvey Leave a Comment

Confession: I didn’t think I’d like the Mint Chocolate Chip bars (scroll to find them) at all.  The only reason I ordered them was because of a special offer where a box was included.  Having never been a fan of “mint chocolate chip” anything, EVER, I figured I could trade some with one of my clients who also orders Dale’s Bars, or just power through them.   Wow did THAT opinion change.   These bars are fantastic!  Unlike anything “mint chocolate chip” you’ve ever had before, the mint is a super delicious, understated natural mint – with all the aromatics and sublety of fresh mint leaves.   The “chocolate chips” are actually raw cacao nibs and not some kind of sickening sweet junk.  The mint aspect sticks around a little after you eat it for a nice fresh feeling too.   Everyone who I’ve shared these with has started out making a yuck face, then their entire expression changes as they take a bite.   It’s pretty fun to watch.  So, even if you think you don’t like “mint chocolate chip” you’ll probably like these – I’ll be ordering more for sure.   They even go with black coffee or espresso rather well.   The mint is an energizing flavor for the afternoon too.  I just can’t say enough nice things about this flavor – and it’s even low carb!!!

The nearly unbelieveable nutritional stats on this thing say just 3g of sugar – the other carbohydrates are apparently fiber – and there’s quite a lot of fiber there too – 8g to be exact.   The whopping 22g of protein mainly come from pea, rice, and hemp protein, making this bar suitable for vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores as well.  They tend to be a bit “spendy” for some budgets, but you should always be sure to check the Special Offers page to find when your soon-to-be-favorite bars will be on some kind of crazy sale too.
