All my lady fit-pro friends seem to have photos where they’re laughing about a mystery thing. Here’s mine… actually, since it’s a video frame grab, you can be pretty sure I’m laughing at myself.
I’ve been scrubbing through old footage finding things that need to be edited so I can share them and ran across this little EMOM workout explanation I’d meant to put with an earlier blog post (oops). Well late is better than never, I suppose… it’s a demo of a fun simple Every Minute On the Minute workout for heavy-ish sandbag and heavy-ish kettlebell. The video after that is more “footage I’ve been meaning to edit and share” and solves the mystery of “does this lifting stone weigh the same as me?” You’ll have to watch and find out.
If you want to do the workout that I’m demoing in the EMOM video, it’s simply
After a joint mobility warm-up and usually more than a handful of weighted and unweighted get-ups… I get the timer going and….
At the top of each minute (and I like to do this one for 15-20 minutes in cool weather):
- 1x Sandbag Clean, Press, squat
- 1x Sandbag Clean, Press, Squat
- 10x kettlebell swings (regular or overspeed… you’ll see me doing overspeed swings in the video which frankly annoys me to watch but… I was looking to earn more rest time so I could talk at the camera. Normally I let the thing float. Either way you’ll see I do a full lock out at the hips on every swing, every dang time. Because that’s what we do.)
Consider yourselves very lucky… the raw video for the stone weighing video was 18 minutes long! The edited version below is three minutes total… what will you do with those spare 15 minutes? How about that EMOM workout from the beginning of this blog post?
