Some days are crazier than others, some are not crazy at all – those are usually the ones I reserve for massive amounts of sleeping. One of the great things about kettlebell and bodyweight training that has been SO crucial for me is the efficiency of the training sessions themselves. No more boring hours and hours at the gym, not to mention travel time to and from – which if you’re in a heavily populated city can be a real issue. So many people use “I don’t have time!” as an excuse to neglect the NECESSITY of regular exercise, and frankly, kettlebells just blast right through that excuse. Right along with “but I don’t have room for exercise equipment…”. Anyway enough ranting. Some of you may or may not know the somewhat fast paced lifestyle I lead, but I am able to do so and to maintain good health and an enviable (at least some people seem to think so) physique with highly efficient workouts and a “no compromises” approach to nutrition.
Right now I am following the Return of the Kettlebell plan, as adapted for my situation by my good friend and strength coach, Tim Shuman, RKCII (the book is somewhat addressed to males, so if you get the book, do not think you’ll have to be double snatching giant kettlebells which may weigh more than YOU DO if you are a woman). Yesterday was my “variety day” meaning that I should just do some light work, as today is a program day. Here’s how I integrated variety into yesterday and how meal planning, and not cutting corners can allow you to keep a crazy schedule. Not listed are all the times I grabbed fistfulls of almonds, walnuts, extremely dark chocolate, and high end hot tea. Most women I know keep crazy schedules btw, whether its with jobs, family, creative ventures etc, we tend to take on a LOT of tasks and not back down. Here’s a basic rundown of yesterday and I know I’ve left some things out – quite a bit – like social calls to friends, listening to audio books during drives, and playing with my dog…
- Wake up, walk dog, eat (bacon, eggs, brocolli, ham), take vitamins
- Get organized for boot camp classes of the day, check functionality of all websites, including the business website where I am attempting to liquidate a large amount of inventory.
- Lead morning Boot Camp Class
- Start and finish shipments of liquidated inventory, send emails to distributor for drop ship products, leave message for another distributor about setting up for the new business direction.
- Practice a few favorite tai chi moves, review old notes from Sifu back in the day.
- Lunch: grassfed beef salad recipe currently in development for GiryaGirl.com – twist a few ingredients around to test, eat while brainstorming more articles and upcoming video features. Cooked 4 patties from 1LB of local grassfed beef, ate two with salad, stored the other two in the refrigerator for later
- Continue to list items from old business ventures on eBay, continue liquidation of inventory, explore other channels.
- Social networking, noticed that friends and myself were recognizable in this week’s edition of DragonDoorTV!!!! Further article brainstorming
- Convict Conditioning style bridge practice for a few minutes
- Eat other two patties on top of another variant of the salad in development for dinner (this salad has a lot of varied ingredients, by the way)
- Received phone call from owner of local production company – can you record this singing jingle for us? We need it in an hour?!!!???! Me: SURE! Uploaded it directly to them with 5 minutes to spare before….
- Leading two back to back boot camp classes – one hour each. While campers are running their 1/4 mile laps, I do kettlebell swings and snatches – besides, its a little chilly out, so I need to keep warm!
- Back home to organize, do a couple handstand pushups for fun. Decide to go out to get the last bit of free froyo on a gift card. On the way back get another call from the production company – can you do another version too?
- 10:30PM record a few more versions of the jingle before retiring at 11PM so I can read etc. to be read to wake up TODAY at 5AM to lead a 6AM class.
So don’t tell me you don’t have time to exercise…….
