6th assignment! Please read all the rules and instructions if you haven't already on the main page: Scavenger Hunt Instructions and Rules. A friend stopped by to check in the other day and to discuss her current dietary strategy and how to improve it. The great news is that she's lost almost 6lbs of body fat in 1 month of sporatically attending my small group classes … [Read more...] about Day 6 – #GiryaGirlGame Scavenger Hunt (Favorite Book Edition)

Kettlebell and Bodyweight Circuit Workout – Descent into Madness (Descending Ladder)
Here's a fun one from the kettlebell small group yesterday. We reinforced the "kettlebell wagon" to make it more heavy duty - while it's rated for 700lbs, the manufacturers seem to have thought we'd only use it for bags of mulch, not heavy iron kettlebells... a precision cut piece of plywood did the trick, so look for more heavy swing/deadlift workouts in the near … [Read more...] about Kettlebell and Bodyweight Circuit Workout – Descent into Madness (Descending Ladder)

Christmas Update!
It's almost hard to know where to begin today! All kinds of great things this past week, so let's start from the beginning. I am beyond honored to be one of the instructors for the brand new Progressive Calisthenics Certification Workshop with Al and Danny Kavadlo. The program is 3 days of intensive work on all our favorites from Paul Wade's Convict Conditioning programs. … [Read more...] about Christmas Update!
Not One But TWO?? Decided Today Was the Day To Try Muscle Ups Again!
Decided today was the day - they are ugly as sin, but that'll go away with practice. I want to get rid of that slight kip too... :) But in the meantime, I am happy with being able to do two muscle ups from a dead hang today. I was using some awesome hints from Al Kavadlo and his book Raising the Bar - and of course Convict Conditioning (which calls these "sentry pull ups" btw - … [Read more...] about Not One But TWO?? Courthouse Calisthenics Workout….
So, I was called in for jury duty, which of course caused me a whole lot of tooth-gnashing and concern... would I get stuck on something for days and days (my greatest fear), or would they let me go? The good news - after making me and about 900 other people sit around for most of the day, they ended up not needing me. Considering the proliferation of snack machines and … [Read more...] about Courthouse Calisthenics Workout….
No School Like the Old School – A Relevant At Home Workout from 1904?!?
This morning, Master RKC, Geoff Neupert (Author of the highly effective Kettlebell Burn series of programs) sent out a very interesting little email. Well, apologies the email itself was more intriguing than anything. So intriguing that I looked past the annoyance of actually having to cut and paste the url of the blog post—on any other day his emails have clickable links. … [Read more...] about No School Like the Old School – A Relevant At Home Workout from 1904?!?
Hanging Around – Pull Up Variations and anywhere workouts
Like to think that a video which starts out with fashion head nods to both Bruce Lee and Cliff Harski* bodes well. Let's see if you feel the same way? Here's a little of the fun that happened on the way out and back from a coffee run. This is also similar to what happens when I got to pick up a custom made chocolate order... who said walking errands had to be boring? … [Read more...] about Hanging Around – Pull Up Variations and anywhere workouts
Now We Get to Act Like A Bunch of ANIMALS… a kettlebell and bodyweight workout!
So much inspiration and creativity stemming from the recent visit to NYC, Nimble Fitness, Equinox, and of course Al Kavadlo's Saturday Morning class. This particular workout's "warm up" was directly influenced by the warmup from Al's class I attended. Lacking access to Thompson Square Park, I came up with a simple circuit punctuated with our favorite 2 hand kettlebell swings … [Read more...] about Now We Get to Act Like A Bunch of ANIMALS… a kettlebell and bodyweight workout!
Ideas about indoor kettlebell and bodyweight workouts
I keep checking to see if any of the neighbors are building an ark. Seriously... the rain—all week... rain rain rain rain rain. AAAGGGHHHH!!!!! This is especially annoying for people who like to walk to their errand destinations, who like to practice beginner and clutch flags on any available safe pole, who like to do fingertip pull ups off of various pieces of … [Read more...] about Ideas about indoor kettlebell and bodyweight workouts
