Another great RKC workshop has just come to a close in San Diego (surprisingly sunny even when it was overcast all day on Saturday*). So many old and new friends were in attendence, that it was great to catch up and hear how everyone is doing in their training and in their lives. Seriously, it was a veritable who’s-who in the RKC and fitness industry… Not to mention all the fun people in the general area who showed up to say hello, or to be “volunteer victims” during the teaching test of the weekend.
That really is one of the great things about the RKC program, unlike most other fitness workshops or certifications that just hand out a “hey you showed up!” certificate or at best, a flimsy multiple choice test, the RKC makes sure that not only can you perform the exercises correctly, you must demonstrate safety and effectiveness in teaching others. One of my clients was actually at this RKC and I am very proud to say, passed all the tests with flying colors. She really worked hard to meet this challenge, and you’ll hear more from her later as I (hopefully) talk her into a mini project for you too! (Let’s cross our fingers together)
Brett Jones was in rare form, leading and teaching with his unique style – and of course the occasional laugh too. Of course, my kettlebell small group can look forward to a bunch of new RKC workshop inspired workouts this week – I may post a few of them this week for you to check out too. Most of them will be extremely simple – but we all know how effective “simple but not easy” kettlebell workouts can really be.
Also of course, apparently no matter how many times I have heard it, and even after attending the MMI just a few months ago, I still managed to jot down over 5 pages of notes from the Sunday marketing lecture. Marketing is a funny thing – I used to be very adverse to it, but after a lot of reading, education, and just learning with an open mind, I see it in a very different light. As we heard at the MMI, it’s great to be good at something, but if you don’t let your light shine, then no one knows about what you can do, and you can’t help many people at all.
Anyway, more later, including an answer to many of the questions I’ve been asked over this past weekend – and yeah, going to have to write about… ugh… feelings… on the internet. (you know how I feel about that!)
*annoyed at the fact that despite applying sunblock, I have some redness on the tops of my ears, which normally only happens if boating is involved…
