Hodge Podge of an Update

September 6, 2012 By Adrienne Harvey Leave a Comment

There’s a lot to catch up on, and it’s embarrassing to see that nearly a whole week has gone by without an update on here.  Let’s fix that right now.

I woke up Tuesday morning to find the post-holiday blues obliterated by a message from Triton Nutrition telling me that I had won their Extreme Athlete drawing.  Getting awesome stuff delivered never gets old… and I’m really looking forward to trying out the Extreme Athlete package of goodies.  It’s important to remember that constantly checking order status doesn’t speed things up at all.  In the mean time I’ve had some fun checking out the clever and uncomplicated protein shake recipes on their website.  Not a huge supplements person, I mean I have my regimen for sure – but it borders on “unconventional” with some of the inclusions sure to make certain friends make the “yuck face.”  Needless to say I am picky, so I’m really pleased to see the stats and ingredients for the stuff from Triton passes muster.

Vegan and non-dairy consuming friends: definitely listen up as their protein powder is from all vegetable sources (NON SOY!!!! HURRAH!!!)  I’ll be using and reviewing everything, should be a lot of fun.

For whatever reason, since the San Diego RKC Workshop, I’ve been avoiding going to the grocery store as often.  This has led to some interesting and new recipe variations as I systematically eat everything here in the freezer, cupboard, etc.  Granted, I have to go tonight, or the weird combinations will even be too weird for me!.   The good news is it’s inspired yet another section to the cooking product I’m working on…. something that my busy single friends especially will enjoy.   I mean… it’s great all these cookbooks geared to families – and I realize that’s the major market, however… there’s plenty of people out there in ones and twos who might not want to wind up with a mountain of leftovers all the time – and this section will be for YOU!

So in the spirit of that idea (though you should certainly share as much of this heavy high calorie treat with as many people as possible) check out the fun variation at the bottom of this page – Coconut Chia Pudding – I turned it into a sort of chocolate mousse.

In other news, not only has my kettlebell small group and individual clients been using Primal Move lately, but there will be a Primal Move Certification Workshop here in the Winter Park/Orlando area on November 2nd.  Be sure to sign up early because spots are limited, and you don’t want to miss the $100 early bird savings.  I’ll be leading the workshop and will be scheduling a limited number of sessions during the remainder of the weekend should you want to work on kettlebell skills and the progressions from Convict Conditioning.  Troubleshooting and strategy in regards to kettlebells and bodyweight exercises are really big favorites of mine, so if you will be around, let’s talk.  The area around the workshop site is home to some of the absolute best dining and shopping, and if you need accomodations I have a recommendation which is within walking distance of the community center as well as food, a great grocery and health food store, and pretty much everything a healthy-lifestyle-focued person could want.   Can’t make it to Florida on Novemeber the 2nd?  More workshops are being added all over the country right here.

What is Primal Move?

Speaking of bodyweight exercise, if you haven’t already, please click here and scroll just a little bit – look for the large yellow box on the right and download the Convict Conditioning Super FAQ.  It’s extremely worthwhile, even if you haven’t read either book or seen any of the DVDs yet.  But it is especially awesome if you are somewhat familiar with the material.  I am planning on reading portions of it again this weekend.   If you do too, let me know your thoughts!  And if you haven’t already, definitely read the interview with Paul “Coach” Wade – normally he doesn’t grant interviews, but he did this once, via email.   Several questions were not included as he didn’t want to answer some of them, but hey, that’s alright—I was honored to be in this dialog at all!
