Hario Skerton Coffee Grinder (Manual)

February 20, 2012 By Adrienne Harvey Leave a Comment

I love this stupid little thing.  It even makes really good espresso grounds.   The hand crank means your ears are never assaulted by that terrible high pitched grinding whine of a coffee grinder first thing in the morning.  Sit there and half-asleep turn the crank slowly and there’s barely a sound at all as the beans are precisely crushed between the ceramic grooved disks.  Turn, turn, crunch, crunch.  Not so bad.   Or maybe you don’t have time for that – you can grind the beans the night before and unscrew the grinder top, replace with the screw-on cover and place in the refrigerator.   I did that about 10 minutes ago in preparation for a big Monday.

Only complaint – sometimes the knurled knob at the top needs to be tightened after a grinding session.  No big deal.   Good little machine – and unlike unsightly countertop electric models – incredibly easy to store.   No electricity required!
