First off - hope you're taking some time to honor our veterans today on Veteran's Day - a big shout out and thank you to all veterans! It was a busy time last week - but I wanted to kind of recap some of it here, if you missed a few items from Facebook etc. HUGE congratulations to my good friend and fellow Floridian, Laurel Blackburn - she was promoted to RKC Team Leader … [Read more...] about Catching Up a Little – Interviews, Reviews, Congratulations, and Some Fun!

Not One But TWO?? Decided Today Was the Day To Try Muscle Ups Again!
Decided today was the day - they are ugly as sin, but that'll go away with practice. I want to get rid of that slight kip too... :) But in the meantime, I am happy with being able to do two muscle ups from a dead hang today. I was using some awesome hints from Al Kavadlo and his book Raising the Bar - and of course Convict Conditioning (which calls these "sentry pull ups" btw - … [Read more...] about Not One But TWO?? My First Time Leading a Certification Workshop – Primal Move Winter Park Florida
Its no secret that I'm nuts about Primal Move. Ever since being introduced to it in Seattle, I've enjoyed adding it to my small group's sessions, and exploring the movements at home. They've had a great effect on my own practice and have added infinite value to my CK-FMS knowledge. And while I was a little nervous to teach the first ever Primal Move Certification Workshop here … [Read more...] about My First Time Leading a Certification Workshop – Primal Move Winter Park Florida
Up for a Challenge?
My super cool friends from The EDGE Team Performance Center and Kettlebell Club in Dayton, Ohio had an event years ago - it's a fun conditioning workout test that you can do infrequently to check on your progress. Here's the scoop - I did it backwards - accidentally on purpose* (choose a moderate sized kettlebell** - or one that you train with regularly) and: Start your … [Read more...] about Up for a Challenge?
Recharge with Qigong and Destroy Stress
Recently, Jen Sinkler (RKC and all around super cool person) and John Du Cane made a video showcasing a qigong workout for Experience Life Magazine (which is also super cool by the way). If you aren't familiar with qigong, or even if you are, this video is a great intro or review. Don't be fooled by the slow movement, some of this can be intense in an interesting way. I've been … [Read more...] about Recharge with Qigong and Destroy Stress
A Kettlebell Workout for a Fit Beginner
Someone not new to fitness, but new to kettlebells can present an interesting programming challenge. Frankly, it's a great reason to focus on basics, and great for advanced people too. Combos like this are also useful for people who may have somehow lost the groove of their swing, are coming back from vacation, etc. Honestly, it's always a great idea to revisit the basics … [Read more...] about A Kettlebell Workout for a Fit Beginner

Best Standard French Whip – Light Design 8 Inch
I was looking for an alternative to a blender bottle to mix up some basic protein shakes - I don't use fruit in my shakes, so using a wire wisk is a good option. After being thwarted in efforts to purchase a blender bottle last night at Whole Foods, I decided - why not try and find a small wire whisk that will fit well into the tall glasses I already have. I really don't enjoy … [Read more...] about Best Standard French Whip – Light Design 8 Inch
Tough Love for the Kettlebell Clean Part TWO – a Practice Workout
Having just returned from the San Diego RKC, I had plenty of scribbled notes, new cues, and fun combos for my kettlebell small group class... and don't worry, Wednesday people, your time is coming! :) One of the TOUGHEST kettlebell exercises to learn and to teach can be the clean. But, it's incredibly worthwhile to persist with it, even though it can be frustrating. I … [Read more...] about Tough Love for the Kettlebell Clean Part TWO – a Practice Workout
An Unusually Delicious Combination – Custom Chocolates with Peterbrooke Chocolatier!
Yesterday was incredibly cool - as I got to make chocolates with my friends at Winter Park's Peterbrooke Chocolatier yet again (here's a video of when we made Year of the Dragon spicy chocolates last time). The day before, while lamenting that a certain local health food store has NOT restocked their pink peppercorn and guarana dark chocolate bar, I had a sudden moment of … [Read more...] about An Unusually Delicious Combination – Custom Chocolates with Peterbrooke Chocolatier!
