A Case of the Mondays – Kettlebell and Friends Workout

October 30, 2012 By Adrienne Leave a Comment

A few ill-timed inconveniences today were a bit… frustrating.   And it was time to well… fix that with some good old fashioned exercise-induced endorphins. It was also a good time to sandwich in some technique and Primal Move practice as well.   The weather was really nice today, so we took full advantage of that.  Even though class size was small today, a LOT of work got done.  There are 2 versions of the workout – one for someone working on their kettlebell swing technique (points they needed to work on were planting the feet and truly hinging from the hips), and the other for someone who has progressed to snatching and heavier 1 arm swings.  I even jumped in a little and buh-bye frustrations.

Warm up and general check-in with the Primal Move evaluation/warm up

Then it was time for… 3-5 rounds of…..

Beginner – Swing Technique Focus Intermediate – Swing and Snatch
  • 10 facing away from the wall squats, emphasizing hip hinge
  • 20 2 hand kettlebell swings
  • 30 Battling Rope “up-downs”
  • L-sit on parallettes practice (wherever you are in the progression)
  • 20 moderately heavy kettlebell deadlifts, hinge focus
  •  10/side kettlebell snatches
  • 20 alternating 1 hand kettlebell swings (HEAVY!)
  • 30 Battling Rope “up-downs” (or 20 “thrashes”)
  • L-Sit on parallettes held for time

We finished up with some rolling work from Primal Move and the Evaluation as a cool down.   Good times for all!   Need to make some videos with the Battling Rope because it shows the sort of brutality we’re capable of… LOL! 🙂
