There's a lot I can write about my original journey to the RKC that started in 2009, and there's a detailed day by day account of that first RKC Workshop on this site. That first experience was transformative on too many levels to fully explain here, but those of you who know me, know a majority of the story. Every now and then people try and challenge the existence of part of … [Read more...] about Pre-RKC Benchmark Workout…

Advanced Kettlebell Challenge Workout For 1/12/2020
Hinted at this one a little last week - then after a few more conversations with folks realized that I likely need to have another post really giving the ways that this kind of workout can be useful especially for those who are preparing to pass the RKC Snatch test. It solves just one piece of the puzzle but there are several important pieces that must be in place to … [Read more...] about Advanced Kettlebell Challenge Workout For 1/12/2020
Andrea’s Blog Post is So Awesome I had to Blog about it and Record a Podcast Too… Kettlebell “Origin Story” and MORE!
Master RKC Andrea Du Cane shared an incredible blog post this past week... its one of those that if I had a time machine, I'd send it right back to 2009! What do you wish you’d brought, done, known etc, before the RKC Weekend???
Last night I tweeted, twittered, whatever you call it, a question to my fellow kettlebell maniac friends, a group which includes MANY people who are RKC certified. Since I've read a good deal about what people bring to the RKC, and what they think they need etc, I thought I'd ask: Hey RKCs! What do you wish you had known/done/brought with you to the #RKC … [Read more...] about What do you wish you’d brought, done, known etc, before the RKC Weekend???
RKC Prep and the 10,000 Kettlebell Swing Challenge
Though I think that the majority of the 10,000 kettlebell swings will happen for me at the RKC weekend, I'm still participating in Tim Shuman, RKCII's annual month-long 10,000 swing challenge. If you do the math, it works out to approx 238 swings per day. In 2 days I am 500 swings into it, so right on track so far! He says to pick a "prize" at the end of it, and I've chosen a … [Read more...] about RKC Prep and the 10,000 Kettlebell Swing Challenge
A Victory for the hands, courtesy of Diesel Crew
Tonight an amazing thing happened... I did the snatch test without chalk, and without having my hands even slightly getting torn up. Because for the past week, I have been shaving down the calluses on my hands daily with one of those silly "as seen on tv" Ped Eggs. Looks like someone took one of those kitchen "microplane" cheese graters, made some minor modifications and … [Read more...] about A Victory for the hands, courtesy of Diesel Crew
A Serious Clean and Press Practice Workout
This is adapted from one of the workouts in a brutal plan created for me by Tim Shuman, RKC2 - I used his plan to prepare for the RKC Workshop in 2010. The original set of workouts consisted of 3-4 different patterns which all emphasized the crucal RKC 6 exercises: swing, clean, press, front squat, snatch, and get up. My small group class focused on swings this past Friday … [Read more...] about A Serious Clean and Press Practice Workout
RKC Prep Assorted Questions!!!
A fellow forum user on the Dragon Door website messaged several questions about preparation for the RKC certification weekend - here are some of her questions with my answers, maybe some of them will be useful to you too! K: Would you say that the volume was the most challenging aspect of the weekend? What else should I know? Adrienne: The volume was definitely way way up … [Read more...] about RKC Prep Assorted Questions!!!
