New Podcast! Adrienne and Co-Host Dr. Chad Eldridge Discuss Two VERY Cool Recent Events! Get the Scoop!

October 23, 2015 By Adrienne Harvey Leave a Comment

podcast logo

It's been a BLAST to add Dr. Chad Eldridge as the official Co-Host of the GiryaGirl.com Podcast (at least that's how it will be until we can come up with a new name/platform etc. for it.) This episode is a little shorter, but packed with info as both of us attended different, but extremely cool events last weekend.  I set a timer during the recording (it's silent, thankfully) … [Read more...] about New Podcast! Simple Workout With Classic Kettlebell Moves

February 22, 2014 By Adrienne Harvey Leave a Comment

KB Pose GiryaGirl

Sometimes it's a very good thing to keep it simple, and often with kettlebells and bodyweight you'll notice that there's a great power in keeping things simple.  The same is overwhelmingly true as described by Marty Gallagher in his most recent post on barbell training over at the IronBible.DragonDoor.com blog.  And while I don't personally do a whole heck of a lot of barbell … [Read more...] about Simple Workout With Classic Kettlebell Moves

A Great Excuse to Drag a Bunch of Things Out to the Park – Workout and Skill Practice

February 19, 2014 By Adrienne Harvey Leave a Comment

park

On somewhat of a lark it seemed like a fun idea to drag a variety of favorite "toys" out to the park today.  A friend met me for this challenge and I also wanted to borrow her slackline.  Because mine is SO stretchy I'd been having to hang it so high between trees that when I was jumping or falling off of it with the usual frequency it was starting to stress out my achilles … [Read more...] about A Great Excuse to Drag a Bunch of Things Out to the Park – Workout and Skill Practice

Down by Twos… a Kettlebell and Bodyweight Workout

February 14, 2014 By Adrienne Harvey Leave a Comment

48kg

This is another fun "benchmark" workout that definitely let us all know where we are with our conditioning.   Amusingly, the Primal Move warm up, Convict Conditioning Trifecta, the sequence and then the Primal Move cool down took about 40 minutes.  According to my Armour39, during that 40 minutes, 409 calories were destroyed.  That wasn't the goal, but it does explain why I eat … [Read more...] about Down by Twos… a Kettlebell and Bodyweight Workout

The 300 Nightmare Kettlebell, Battling Rope, and Jump Rope Workout

February 9, 2014 By Adrienne Leave a Comment

300 Workout

It was time to step things up a notch early last week.  My approach to conditioning is very similar to my approach to abdominal training... it just kind of happens (very well) in the course of our general training.   For instance with the kettlebell swing, there's skill, timing, acceleration/deceleration, strength, and conditioning components just to start.  There's also a … [Read more...] about The 300 Nightmare Kettlebell, Battling Rope, and Jump Rope Workout

The Doorbuster: An MMA Timing Inspired Workout for Kettlebell, Bodyweight, and Optional Ultimate Sandbag

December 10, 2013 By Adrienne Leave a Comment

large exercise collage

While I was working on Mike Medrano's interview for Dragon Door last week, the idea of creating a conditioning workout based on the timing of an MMA fight was just too intriguing not to try. So, on Black Friday in total rebellion of the usual activities most folks were doing, we headed out to the park with a workout I jokingly named "the Doorbuster."  Get Ups feature … [Read more...] about The Doorbuster: An MMA Timing Inspired Workout for Kettlebell, Bodyweight, and Optional Ultimate Sandbag

Hurrah Hurrah It’s Track Day!

September 12, 2012 By Adrienne Harvey Leave a Comment

Old Olympic Stadium, Athens, Greece

The weather was actually *NICE* out today, and it seemed like a good time as any to take a little trek down to the local running track - it's part of a city park, so everyone can use it.   Given the good weather, there were all kinds of things going on - kids soccer practice, a running group, all kinds of stuff, and a friend's local bootcamp showed up as we were leaving - so it … [Read more...] about Hurrah Hurrah It’s Track Day!

The DOE Manmaker Kettlebell Workout Revisited…

June 30, 2012 By Adrienne Harvey Leave a Comment

product placement

It's Friday... which means its time for a challenge... one week we flipped tires with Seth Petruzelli's Extreme Conditioning class, sometimes we repurpose a fit trail, get out the TRXs, the Battling Rope, or do ninja-inspired found-gym workouts all over the neighborhood.  Today, it was time to test out the old school brutal drill... the US Department of Energy's Manmaker as … [Read more...] about The DOE Manmaker Kettlebell Workout Revisited…

Friday ‘Funtime’

September 27, 2011 By Adrienne Leave a Comment

A little random Friday Funtime to keep everyone on their toes.  A tough and crazy week for a lot of people, so its good to stay sharp with a nice workout, right?  A range of "reasonable" kettlebells was available for my small group to use for the different exercises - typically going heavier with the 2 hand swings and swapping out as necessary.   4 Rounds: … [Read more...] about Friday ‘Funtime’

MMA Inspired Kettlebell Workout – FURIOUS Friday!

September 27, 2011 By Adrienne Leave a Comment

After talking with several MMA fighters and especially with RKC Team Leader Tommy Blom recently, I was inspired to make a workout following the timing of an MMA fight.  Especially since several of my Winter Park small group members are fans of the sport.  MMA fights are 3 rounds at 5 minutes per round - and well - as in video editing or public speaking we all know... 5 minutes … [Read more...] about MMA Inspired Kettlebell Workout – FURIOUS Friday!
