Hawaii Travel

Hawaii Adventure, or how I ended up doing pull ups right next to the Pacific Ocean... Those of you on Instagram already know some of what's in this post, but I wanted to kind of fill in the details here and there.  In recent years I've gotten into a travel habit, so much so that if I have to stick around in one place too long I get a little annoyed.  Granted the constant … [Read more...] about Hawaii, Motivation, Priorities, American Ninja Warrior… [with videos]

DVRT with Josh Henkin, Website Direction, a Little Challenge…

Josh Henkin At Workshop

It's been a whirl-wind lately... After learning more about Josh Henkin's DVRT system and Ultimate Sandbag during a recent photoshoot (Josh's DVRT book will be published by Dragon Door in April) I was intrigued to say the very least.   So this past weekend I braved the cold of NYC to attend the DVRT level 1 and 2 workshops right in the heart of Manhattan.  What a great … [Read more...] about DVRT with Josh Henkin, Website Direction, a Little Challenge…

A Carousel Workout – for Kettlebell and Bodyweight exercises

March 9, 2014 By Adrienne Harvey Leave a Comment

scary monkey

More affectionately nicknamed the "Carousel of Carnage" by our "knack for nicknames" guy at kettlebell small group, this circuit of stations presented some interesting challenges in the un-relenting Florida heat yesterday evening.  In addition to bringing some ideas from various other related projects to the mix, I also brought the grip balls from StrongerGrip.com to further … [Read more...] about A Carousel Workout – for Kettlebell and Bodyweight exercises

The 300 Nightmare Kettlebell, Battling Rope, and Jump Rope Workout

February 9, 2014 By Adrienne Leave a Comment

300 Workout

It was time to step things up a notch early last week.  My approach to conditioning is very similar to my approach to abdominal training... it just kind of happens (very well) in the course of our general training.   For instance with the kettlebell swing, there's skill, timing, acceleration/deceleration, strength, and conditioning components just to start.  There's also a … [Read more...] about The 300 Nightmare Kettlebell, Battling Rope, and Jump Rope Workout

RKC Orlando 2010 Recap Part Two: Friday part 1

December 12, 2013 By Adrienne Leave a Comment

Friday morning began at a merciful 8:15am with many of us piling onto the shuttle bus to the Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports complex.   I just kept thinking... how my P.E. teachers from the past would really get a laugh out of ME doing something like this - I was never a "sports" person by any stretch of the imagination, and usually last to be picked for kick ball.    Then … [Read more...] about RKC Orlando 2010 Recap Part Two: Friday part 1

RKC Prep and the 10,000 Kettlebell Swing Challenge

December 12, 2013 By Adrienne Leave a Comment

Though I think that the majority of the 10,000 kettlebell swings will happen for me at the RKC weekend, I'm still participating in Tim Shuman, RKCII's annual month-long 10,000 swing challenge. If you do the math, it works out to approx 238 swings per day. In 2 days I am 500 swings into it, so right on track so far! He says to pick a "prize" at the end of it, and I've chosen a … [Read more...] about RKC Prep and the 10,000 Kettlebell Swing Challenge

Day 3 – #GiryaGirlGame Scavenger Hunt

May 28, 2013 By Adrienne Harvey Leave a Comment

3rd assignment time! Please read all the rules and instructions if you haven't already on the main page: Scavenger Hunt Instructions and Rules. Sorry for skipping last week- I heard that certain parties were actually fairly upset by this.  Not to ego trip, but it's great to know that you all care so much... or is it that you really really want to win the very great prize, … [Read more...] about Day 3 – #GiryaGirlGame Scavenger Hunt

Up for a Challenge?

October 28, 2012 By Adrienne Leave a Comment

What Is The Sissy Challenge

My super cool friends from The EDGE Team Performance Center and Kettlebell Club in Dayton, Ohio had an event years ago - it's a fun conditioning workout test that you can do infrequently to check on your progress. Here's the scoop - I did it backwards - accidentally on purpose* (choose a moderate sized kettlebell** - or one that you train with regularly) and: Start your … [Read more...] about Up for a Challenge?

Sloshy Times… A Workout for Kettlebells and Sloshpipe

September 25, 2012 By Adrienne Leave a Comment

slosh squat

Some of the head honchos over at Savage Race train with us, and one brought along some special gifts today. Now... these are the guys who create some of the wickedest, most mean looking mud runs around... this is NOT a race for the weak. Some of the obstacles are downright sadistic. There... I said it. Anyway if you are up for an extreme challenge, go check out their site and … [Read more...] about Sloshy Times… A Workout for Kettlebells and Sloshpipe
