The schedule has been over the top lately, but that's no excuse. So, I've made a few changes to my routine. If I've gotten enough rest (which has become a bigger priority), I'd do at least one, and sometimes two *nearly* all-out sessions. Since I was in Detroit early this week (where we somehow managed to walk between 6-7 miles each day), I had to make sure this workout was a … [Read more...] about Weird Weekend Challenge Workout

Madness Descends – A Circuit Workout for Kettlebell and Battling Rope
Madness indeed - being in NC means that March Madness is the tune of the moment. But, this workout has a madness all its own. The first few rounds give you a challenge but as is my style of workout design, it also may inspire a false sense of security. While the battle rope throw reps go down... the burpees come up. Or burps if you've overdone it hydration wise at this point … [Read more...] about Madness Descends – A Circuit Workout for Kettlebell and Battling Rope
Simple But Challenging Kettlebell and Sandbag Power Workout
This challenge workout is all about power generation, and should only be considered by intermediate-advanced or advanced kettlebell users. Form with swings and snatches should be solid, and a set of 10 pushups should be incredibly easy. The pushups here are used as a grip break and not so much as a strength move on their own. With that said, the workout can be scaled down for … [Read more...] about Simple But Challenging Kettlebell and Sandbag Power Workout
Stuck Indoors? Here’s a Bodyweight Only Coordination, Strength and Cardio Workout!
As much as I hate to admit it, when the weather outside gets below freezing, I'm much less likely to work out outside. Then, one of my clients emailed asking for an indoor alternative to her regular outdoor activities. This workout is one that I created for a small Upper West Side Manhattan gym where I led classes for a week pretty much for the heck of it. (I wanted to get out … [Read more...] about Stuck Indoors? Descending Ladder Kettlebell and Sandbag Burpees Workout With How-To Video
Originally I wrote a version of this sandbag and kettlebell workout for one of my very fit clients. Halfway through her session, I realized I was envious and would be doing a version of it myself that very evening! Descending ladder workouts are a lot of fun AND they let you get in a ton of high quality, strict form reps. When I write a descending ladder workout for someone, … [Read more...] about Descending Ladder Kettlebell and Sandbag Burpees Workout With How-To Video
It’s Almost Conference Time! More Info Soon!
More info soon, but there will be a lot of fun livestreams happening on Facebook and youtube! Don't miss out! Watch this space as well as Dragon Door's Facebook Page. I'm also going to share some fun rebroadcasts later as well. For now, check out these fun videos I made for you earlier this week (Burpees theme is unintentional... I dunno why that happened!) Testing … [Read more...] about It’s Almost Conference Time! More Info Soon!
Down by Twos… a Kettlebell and Bodyweight Workout
This is another fun "benchmark" workout that definitely let us all know where we are with our conditioning. Amusingly, the Primal Move warm up, Convict Conditioning Trifecta, the sequence and then the Primal Move cool down took about 40 minutes. According to my Armour39, during that 40 minutes, 409 calories were destroyed. That wasn't the goal, but it does explain why I eat … [Read more...] about Down by Twos… a Kettlebell and Bodyweight Workout
Playing with the Basics Kettlebell Workout
While the weather is still nice, take your favorite moderate sized kettlebell outside for this odd little basics combo. Some of it is designed to remind one of my classes in particular to hinge at the hips putting those rears way back during swings. And well, everyone can always stand to review the basics - besides - in RKC style kettlebell training, our basics are … [Read more...] about Playing with the Basics Kettlebell Workout
Monster Monday Kettlebell Workout – with Optional Sandbag
Monday's small group class was really inspired by the fact I brought them some "presents" from my visit to Tallahassee's Laurel Blackburn, RKC Level 2 AND Dragon Door distributor for the Southeast USA. Read about the first day of that visit: Girya Girl visits Tallahassee Kettlebell Day 1 Anyway, true to form I brought a few things back for them - a 28kg, 14kg, and a "women's" … [Read more...] about Monster Monday Kettlebell Workout – with Optional Sandbag
The Thundergod Workout – for Kettlebells and Optional Sandbag
This is a fun one - earlier it was storming outside and that inspired me to write up a workout for the small group that would keep us off of the potentially wet ground - and well - to keep the kettlebells low (remind me to tell you a story about this time I was practicing kettlebell snatches and the timing of a far off clap of thunder...) Anyhow, back to our … [Read more...] about The Thundergod Workout – for Kettlebells and Optional Sandbag
