Another total mish-mash of a workout today – but it seems to work for me, at least in terms of maintenance. After the descending ladder strict tactical pull up day this past weekend (13, 12, 11, 10, 9…3, 2, 1) it was good to get back to pulling and climbing a little today as well. Loading, unloading, and carrying tons of kettlebells (378.4lbs to be exact) around etc only counts as the warm up and cool down in my “harsh reality” (I am laughing at that phrase). After that little warm up, it was time to have some fun – three 2-story rope climbs, hanging leg raises (I still absolutely adore that macho masterpiece from Dragon Door: Convict Conditioning), and well, finally got the final word on the “medium sized” tire for tire flipping… it’s about 450LBS. I like flipping it… really like flipping it… Call me Napoleon, but when you’re small, and you’ve always been small (I’m 5’3.5″ 123-125lbs) there’s something incredibly satisfying about throwing around a giant tractor tire that’s 450 pounds. Seriously… But, this was still just warm up, goof off funtime before doing some more kettlebell demonstrations of the two hand swing, 1 hand swing, double kettlebell swing, snatches, front squat vs goblet squat, discussion of very basic program design for fight conditioning, and of course the get up. The more I observe grappling, the more I see even MORE value to the get up – its really very fascinating!
And MAJOR best of luck to the Jungle’s own Seth Petruzelli at Bellator 48 this weekend!!!
