One of the things fellow instructors ask me about A LOT is programming for small and large exercise groups. I love coming up with interesting workouts which appropriately challenge, progress, and engage students and clients. Stipulations like location, equipment which may and may not be available only seem to fuel the creative fire. Working around a theme is another really fun way to break out of any potential training ruts for you and/or your clients/students. Mike Krivka shares this view – somewhat to the extreme. So when he first mentioned that he’d come up with an entire system of workouts based on the James Bond Movies, I was really intrigued. The exact phrase was probably something along the lines of, “OMG MIKE YOU HAVE TO MAKE THAT INTO AN EBOOK!” Frankly, because I wanted that collection of workouts for my own use and for my small groups. They love stuff like that… people who end up training with me usually not-so-secretly want to be like James Bond, or Bruce Lee, or some kinda ninja-superperson. I fall into that wanna-be group as well… Then I realized… hey… I’ve finally gotten a decent amount of experience helping others with proofreading, document formatting, and with my background in computer science, I should be able to help Mike get this thing off the ground and into the marketplace.
So – we decided to join forces. Mike had already written a good deal of the book already – creating unique and effective (just ask my clients how their past 2 weeks have been) workouts, compiling interesting trivia from the 007 legacy, and creating some great bonus materials and programming guides. Then he went and did something that totally blew me away – he got DAN JOHN to write the preface. And if my cognitive skills hadn’t been obliterated by that fact alone, Dan John calling Mike’s ebook, “the most unique approach to programming since the advent of split training.” From this point, Mike and I started honing and perfecting the text – I was carrying printouts with me to and from the Primal Move certification workshop I led in Ohio at Dave Clancy’s gym. I got wicked with my pen during flights and connections… a guy with a Tough Mudder shirt also seated in the exit row was definitely looking over my shoulder as I worked to tighten up the text here and there. Mike enlisted a good friend to work up some incredible graphics.
Back at home, I put together a website on my server, created all the required pages, security, and instant delivery systems required by Clickbank and then all we had to do was wait…. for their approval. As Mike climbed the walls up in DC and I did the same here, the days of waiting were finally over this afternoon. And… Code Name: Indestructible is now available for YOU to purchase. This eBook is not for the faint of heart – these are NOT workouts for beginners. Not by a longshot. BUT – since Mike Krivka is both an RKC Team Leader AND a CrossFit Coach, he brings the best of both together with this eBook. Anyhow, if you feel like it would be appropriate for you (assumes you already have a solid strength and skill base with kettlebells and bodyweight exercises like pull ups, etc.), I would really encourage you to check it out. It’s $17.99 until Midnight(Eastern), Dec. 16th, after that it goes up to it’s regular price of $27.99.
