Sometimes dried figs are like hard rocks, testing the structural integrity of your teeth and dentalwork. Not so with these – the Spanish Pararero figs are unbelieveably soft and slightly chewy with thin skins I didn’t even notice. Just enough to hold all the crunchy seeds inside really. The figs have the consistency of a very soft carmel which is further enhanced by the “just right” layer of dark chocolate coating. Self-described (on the box) as “Perfectly sublime” I’m hard pressed to disagree. Which brings us to the “con” column. If you have a general lack of self control, you may wish to side step these as they’re a tad addictive.
I found them in the cheese area of Whole Foods, but apparently they are stocked in upscale grocery stores and health food stores too. I’m not too impressed with the high shipping cost from Amazon, but gave you that link so you could check them out further. Fun side note – they are also listed in the MyFitnessPal database. 🙂 And they’re delicious with black coffee or espresso. I’m on my 3rd box, and in the interest of sanity and body composition, keep them safely stored on top of the fridge.
