What are the proper steps I should take to become RKC certified?

June 27, 2011 By Adrienne Leave a Comment

From a new friend on Twitter: Hello! I just recently became addicted to kettlebells, and am wondering what the proper steps are to becoming certified RKC?   Congrats on picking a great exercise modality!   Kettlebells have been absolutely indispensable in my quest for fitness - a total game changer (pardon the cliche) that have helped me achieve a level of fitness … [Read more...] about What are the proper steps I should take to become RKC certified?

Update on the Blog Contest –

June 23, 2011 By Adrienne Leave a Comment

Just a quick statement - I'm both honored and surprised to be in the DragonDoor.TV blog contest - even MORE surprised to still even be a going concern. I've slowly built this blog/site for over a year, enlisting friends to help with the logo design, general design (traded a printer and synthesizer for that from an artist friend). In the process, learned how to use both the … [Read more...] about Update on the Blog Contest –

Setting Personal Records in the garage with Coach Tim Shuman, RKCII

Tim Double Beast

Did I get your attention with that "double beast press" tag there?   Before you start calling me out, I wasn't the one who did it, Tim Shuman did.  The double "beast" kettlebell press is something that he's been working on for a while - FYI those kettlebells weigh 106lbs EACH, so... yeah... and before you get all "I lift more than that on a barbell, bro" remember kettlebells … [Read more...] about Setting Personal Records in the garage with Coach Tim Shuman, RKCII

June 20, 2011 By Adrienne Leave a Comment

"A job worth doing is worth doing well" - English Proverb "UGH! Do it #&^!ing RIGHT!!!" -Anonymous Friend 1999   Anyone who has trained with me knows - I am a STICKLER for correct exercise form - with everything, even simple exercises at boot camp (which annoys a few people... sorry but you're NOT injuring yourself on my watch), but especially with kettlebell … [Read more...] about Habitual movement patterns, mindfulness, intention, seeking mastery

Where do you get these amazing fruits and vegetables?!?

June 10, 2011 By Adrienne Harvey Leave a Comment

Three separate people asked me JUST TODAY where I get the vegetables, fruits and general produce for the recipes here and which is pictured in the various breakfasts, lunches and dinners I post on twitter.   There are two answers - one for locals (Orlando/Winter Park) and a more general answer for those of you in other parts of the country/world: Locals (this is not an … [Read more...] about Where do you get these amazing fruits and vegetables?!?

Favorite episode of DragonDoor.tv and plans for GiryaGirl.tv

May 24, 2011 By Adrienne Harvey Leave a Comment

The time to launch GiryaGirl.tv approaches, and I just have to say that Amanda Salas and her crew are so much fun - we became friends on twitter shortly before the Orlando RKC and had a blast being complete nerds about it. The DragonDoor.tv shows have given me a lot of ideas of how I want to run my own - and this episode is of course my favorite - the Orlando RKC certification … [Read more...] about Favorite episode of DragonDoor.tv and plans for GiryaGirl.tv

Cool combo workout with RKCII Tim Shuman

May 2, 2011 By Adrienne Harvey Leave a Comment

Really interesting session with Strength Coach and good friend Tim Shuman, RKCII yesterday - turns out, due to extra strength and consequentally a slight change of shape with my lats, I need to adjust my position and work on my flexibility when doing double kettlebell work in the rack position.   Not entirely surprised about this as things had been feeling ever so slightly odd … [Read more...] about Cool combo workout with RKCII Tim Shuman

LOL.. Twitter….

April 28, 2011 By Adrienne Harvey Leave a Comment

So a friend of GiryaGirl on Twitter made a post this morning, or rather a re-tweet of the following quote: “If you talked to your friends the way you talk to your body, you’d have no friends left at all.” ~Marcia Hutchinson This made me pause... and then remark: LOL are you kidding? They'd just all be "special friends" ...perhaps I have said too much But it got me thinking … [Read more...] about LOL.. Twitter….
