I had to try all three flavors of course – and they’re all great! Depending on what you like in a snack you may decide to choose one over the others… or try all three too. Once again, like any of the Beyond Organic products the specs and pedigree of these crunchy little treats is just off the charts – all three varieties start with a proprietary Enzymatically Activated Seven Seed Omega Blend (Chia, Flax, Hemp, Pumpkin, Black Sesame, Sunflower, and Sesame seeds), plus Beyond Organic’s own Greenfed Raw Cheddar Cheese, probiotics and enzymes. The raw cheddar flavor stops there and is delicious in a very complex crunchy way, but the other two are little wafers of intense, satisfying flavor. The Greek-inspired Mediterranean flavor features extra spice from rosemary, black olives, onion, and EVOO along with pink crystal salt and garlic. They’re really a satisfying flavorful snack. The tomato basil flavor has chunks of sundried tomato along with basil, chives, garlic, onion, smoked paprika, pink crystal salt, and black pepper. They almost have a delicious gourmet pizza flavor going on if you can believe that! Something I love about all the flavors is that the spices are bold, but you don’t go on tasting them afterwards – they also don’t seem to contribute to “garlic breath” etc.
These are what I’d personally label as “ideal foods” there’s so much good going on with them, and they are so flavorfully complex that not only do you get a great deal of crunchy satisfaction from them, the flavors are so interesting and stimulating that its easy to just eat enough at one setting without going overboard. Of course I’m saying that to you with three near empty bags on my desk, but I had to make sure and sample them well over the past week so that I could tell you all about them. Yes they are very good and YES I will be getting more of them ASAP. Because of these and the other crackers without the cheese (which are great to pair with more complex soft goat cheeses like those from Herve Mons… yumyum).
I just discovered a fantastic way to use the little crumbs and broken bits that invariably occur in the bottom of a bag, (un)fortunately there’s usually just enough for one serving of this, but simply sprinkle them on top of a salad for extra crunch and flavor. I did this the other day with a simple mesclun, tomato, balsamic vinegar, and intensely deep olive oil topped salad and it was delicious. The 1/2 tablespoon or so of tomato-basil crumbs even looked very nice.
