Poking around the Beyond Organic website yesterday, and placing the rest of my order I discovered that they have UPDATED the Amasai variety pack to include the new flavors. (Mom’s Mother’s Day gift was the first part of this month’s order – and you should be very very envious of what she received.) Those of you who have tried Amasai know of it’s incredible nutritional impact, versatility and delicious flavor… not to mention the 31+ strains of probiotic cultures. Then there’s the addictive property of it. I’ve made very sure that I don’t run out again, because regular kefir doesn’t cut it after you’ve been spoiled with the incredibly rich texture of Amasai. So if you haven’t yet tried it, I would encourage you to check out the variety pack. It’s made from whole milk from the very happy cows at Jordan Rubin’s private Beyond Organic ranch aka “Cow Heaven.” I was never a big milk drinker as a kid unless I was at Summer camp (we had been drinking organic Jersey cow milk, I found out later). Hardgainers especially need to check this stuff out – or if you are strength training with gusto, you’ll be able to take full advantage of each and every natural delicious calorie. Lazy people will find this makes a good breakfast on the go. And it’s real food, no some kinda freaky chemical shake or whatnot. But you’ve been warned, it’s addictive and there’s no going back!
Yesterday was “unofficial ask me about stuff” day apparently. It started out when I went to a local park with a friend for a picnic – of course we brought along some deviled eggs (these were a fancy variant I was trying out which featured black truffle salt and a touch of ghost pepper hot sauce), kettlebells and the always fun mace from strongergrip.com After eating and talking I started playing around with the kettlebells, the mace and these oh-so conveniently placed picnic tables! Seriously, I don’t even need to bother with gyms anymore with a set up like this (only thing missing is a pull up bar really…). Some of what happened – swings with the 24kg kettlebell, snatches with the 16kg kettlebell (and more of those when I got home, it was 93 degrees out for gosh sakes…) Mace swings, box jumps onto the top of the very sturdy (be safe people) picnic table—I only do those for very low reps, because I like my shins, thank you very much. Also on that table I practiced working up to a full on elbow lever as show in Al Kavadlo’s new book (out on paperback as of TODAY – I had the ebook edition). Between the tables I did sets of full dips and L-sits held for time. You really can do a whole lot with just very little. Of course, there were others at the park, and the kettlebells and mace seem to have some kind of magnetic allure to certain populations. A couple of fellow picnic-ers wandered over and we all talked a little about kettlebells, one had sustained a knee injury at Crossfit, but was interested in seeing the RKC method of the swing (I didn’t let him try it… heal up first!!). And of course they all wanted to see what was up with that mace! Then about 10 minutes later their WHOLE party comes over. Glad I don’t have any qualms about public speaking! LOL! Turns out they are all part of a social club – so we may do an intro class for them at some point. THEN it’s skills exchange time as one of their guys gives us a juggling demo – he had all kinds of juggling equipment and did quite an impressive job! Goes to show – you never know who will be where!
Later that afternoon I ran into some friends at Starbucks who had an iPad with them, I was genuinely curious to see how GiryaGirl.com looked on an iPad – and then of course, they wanted to know “what’s this Beyond Organic thing.” We started a great discussion about good, healthy real foods. So potential Mission Marketers, the Beyond Organic site looks GREAT on the iPad, if you have one, tote it with you to Starbucks and start signing people up right now!!!! I’ve decided to set a goal to buy an iPad using only my commissions from Beyond Organic – the game is to see how fast I can do this. Should be fun, and it shouldn’t take very long at all.
So, Al Kavadlo’s totally awesome book, Raising the Bar came out in paperback form today! I have enjoyed it immensely even as an eBook (not my preferred format), and look forward to getting him to sign a copy for me soon. I’ll also be posting an “official review” soon as well—but know this—it’s a great book, fun, informative, and just bursting with energy! You’ll literally catch yourself smiling while reading. Weird but true. This book is great for all levels too – if you’re working towards your first pull up, or you’re looking to become a full fledged bar-calisthenics maniac, storming your neighborhood’s park to become king or queen of the clapping muscle-up (you maniac).
