First off, HAPPY HALLOWEEN, everyone! 🙂 Feel free to grab a pumpkin (not carved, that’s cheating) and use it to do some Russian Twists, or as a medicine ball replacement! I have some friends who have developed pumpkin-based boot camp workouts! Even though I am a total “choco-snob” there’s a distinct chance that I will probably eat a “fun size” Snickers or maybe a Reeces peanut butter pumpkin-shaped thing at some point today for the sheer nostalgia. Have a small treat, but make sure you share more than you eat – and steer clear of any real ‘omg gotta eat the whole bag now” trigger-items… Out of respect for one of my close friends in particular, I won’t even name the exact item I’m thinking of right now…
Personally, I like to eat stuff like last night’s dinner much more than questionable milk chocolate sugar-laden things… (6oz beef tenderloin, fancy bacon, blue cheese, carmelized shallots, tomatoes, romaine lettuce, black truffle salt, black pepper in abundance….)
So – because some folks might be distracted today, or on some kind of shameful sugar buzz, I’m sharing a workout from last week that’s easy enough to track. It’s also adjustable – a heavy kettlebell will warrant fewer swings, etc. etc.
Here’s part of what happened, and know that rest was taken during this too!
Primal Move Warm Up – or Joint Mobility warm up
- 50-100 kettlebell swings (resting as necessary, grip failure and/or hand damage are not worth it)
- Double kettlebell “Farmer’s Walk” to and from a predetermined location
- 50-100 kettlebell swings
- Mace swings practice – 10 in each direction total minimum – OR a rotational exercise of your choosing (Russian twist for example)
- 50-100 kettlebell swings
- 5 kettlebell military presses per side
- 50-100 kettlebell swings
- Push ups practice (wherever you are in the Convict Conditioning progression, OR one step back)
Light get up practice is always a good thing if there’s enough time/energy too.
We finished up by learning a couple new Primal Move items, then our cool down.
Be safe tonight, have fun, and don’t indulge TOOOO much.
