Rings of Power by Mike Gillette Cool new book from Mike Gillette about Ring Training for all fitness levels. Being on this shoot with Mike was like working with a real live action hero! (And I got to put a cinderblock on him too!) Mike knows his stuff and shares everything you need to know for his versatile go-anywhere ring training.  Full progressions of every exercise, workout plans, and all the know-how to take the training as far as you wish. Good stuff, and yes, that's me on the left side of the cover  :)

The Girya Girl Kitchen - Bare Essentials

Here are the absolute basics, and linked to what I actually use with brand and size specificity etc. where appropriate.  This is a fairly basic list, as I tend to cook in a style that uses few specialized gadgets.  The food is "fancy" the prep tools don't have to be - they just need to be of high quality for maximum efficiency and enjoyment.

The Fountain of Youth?!

My 34th birthday is approaching rapidly this week.  In fact, I was expressing some excitement after one of my boot camp classes in that there would be a special "birthday workout" for them based around the number. Apparently, unbeknown to me, there has been intense speculation among a few boot campers as to my actual age. (Just ask me, ladies, it's all good - seriously, its just a number, I don't care!). AND their guesses were far far faaaaaar younger than I am. Which was flattering, interesting, and well, explains why I got carded for buying a regrettable white wine for cooking escargots (recipe forthcoming) the other day. That being said, the video clip below has inspired me to share some of my "secrets"

 

Reflections on a 21 Day Challenge and the Concept of Self Discipline

Another friend on Facebook started a neat "21 Day Challenge" a little while ago. The basic premise being 21 goals in 21 days - and... they don't all have to be large goals, they should be all sizes and all themes - but things which can realistically be accomplished in the 21 days.  Needless to say I got in on this immediately, as I had been making some itemized (don't ask...) to-do lists, which more often than not are goal-based, or are to-do lists of goals.
