Got Carried Away — and Here’s a Circuit Workout Too!

November 23, 2013 By Adrienne Leave a Comment

So… started writing up my Sweden PCC experiences and it is becoming a novella… and is still in the works, admittedly becoming it’s own little travel log with workout and food stuff reported all through it.   It’s become so gargantuan that I’m going to end up editing it down and might even disperse different parts of it to different blogs on different sites (there may be an "executive summary" part for those of you who are skimmers).   We’ll see I guess.    Those of you following along on Instagram have a few ideas of some of the wild adventures and tasty meals, but there’s so much more to tell.

There’s also a little party report for you about Danny Kavadlo’s book signing party in NYC… (again you know a little about that from Instagram..including a very VERY funny photo for another time).

A few days ago I got back from an incredibly fun photoshoot with Josh Henkin and the well-oiled-machine known as the Dragon Door photoshoot crew.   Andrea Du Cane once again did an incredible job on my makeup, she’s got tons of experience, it never fails to amaze me.

LOVE this from the photographer’s official Instagram feed… had to snag it — thanks for capturing this moment, Don! 🙂 After having a TON of fun with the Ultimate Sandbags, Josh’s expert coaching, and of course getting just a teeny tiny bit competitive with Matt Maher (who’s abs must be setting some kind of world record for intense definition), I am totally intrigued by the concepts in this upcoming book.   As a gift for participating Josh generously sent me home with two Ultimate Sandbags: Power and Strength (gee those happen to be 2 of my favorite words).   After the photoshoot I tried to record a video in a commerial gym, but alas the music they were playing seemed to be more "interesting" to the microphone on my video camera than what I was saying… so until I either reshoot that or subtitle it for you, I am afraid that posting and sharing it will just be annoying for you to watch.

In case you were wondering, there are some very big new features planned for GiryaGirl.com in the next few months, and production is already underway — some will be entirely new ways to provide fun media to you, some enhanced searching, and also solving some basic problems you may be having online with finding the info you need from multiple popular websites.   It’s incredibly exciting, and I hope to have it available for you sooner than later.

As promised here’s a circuit from a recent small group class:

We warmed up with Primal Move AND the Convict Conditioning Vol2 Trifecta

We did this circuit 5 times:
20 kettlebell swings
5 Ab wheel roll outs (from the knees)
10 kettlebell goblet squats
5 kettlebell rows per side
10 alternating kettlebell tactical lunges
5 kettlebell clean and presses per side
6 "Sit outs"*

And cooled down with 5 minutes of body weight or light kettlebell get-ups… before the Trifecta and Primal Move once again.  Good times.

*A super fun exercise I found out about from Code Name: Indestructible from Mike Krivka

The circuit can be adjusted to a variety of fitness levels by making the weights heavier or lighter, and or adjusting the rest periods (or lack thereof) within the circuit.   One of our small group members is such a super-fit maniac that she just tears right through circuits and keeps going.   I’m always amazed!!
