Almost four years ago to the day, we had the photo shoot for Jon Bruney's awesome book, Matt Maher was on that shoot and frankly defied gravity a few times too.
Theshoot was the first time I'd ever tried the now infamous pushup handles. Four years ago we only had the prototypes which if you look super close in the book you can see that they are handmade and a little rough hewn. Then, the first generation offered by was cast from solid aluminum and had this crazy tuning-fork like CLANG if you happened to smack 'em together or strike them on the ground even slightly. Depending on your preferences this could be a pro or a con! Thankfully the next version (and the ones that are currently being sold on ) were further improved, they're made from steel, the larger tubing "handle" part being heavy gauge but hollow so they aren't excessively heavy. (I like to toss them in my backpack for outdoor workouts) Since the new aren't cast, they don't have a mold mark--and that's a welcome change for high rep training!
New Podcast! Adrienne and Co-Host Dr. Chad Eldridge Discuss Two VERY Cool Recent Events! Get the Scoop!
It's been a BLAST to add Dr. Chad Eldridge as the official Co-Host of the GiryaGirl.com Podcast (at least that's how it will be until we can come up with a new name/platform etc. for it.) This episode is a little shorter, but packed with info as both of us attended different, but extremely cool events last weekend. I set a timer during the recording (it's silent, thankfully) so that we would get close to equal time talking about both of these events. I was a judge for the very cool K.E.T.T.L.E. PRT competition in Chicago, Illinois. This unique event is the creation of Senior RKC Robert Miller and RKC Team Leader Katie Petersen. I will be writing a very detailed article about this event, but for a sort of sneak preview, listen to this ! Chad went to a FRC (Functional Range Conditioning) certification at the Academy in Austin, TX. You'll want to hear about the details of this fascinating system. I'm pretty darn intrigued!

I observed and conducted interviews with some of the very top people in thehere at the Chicago - the first in the Chicago area. More importantly, this marks the 10 year anniversary of the certification program. Needless to say spirits are high and LOTS of learning is going on.
The third and final day of any givenworkshop is always intense - and the last day is always very emotional for most people. You may have read my account of the Orlando 2011 - and the last day there was certainly no exception to this emotional experience.
Writing to you from the midst of the 2nd day of the Chicagocertification workshop - hanging with 's Amanda Salas and getting her hooked on my rapidly disappearing stash of Green & Black's 85% cacao chocolate. We are having a great time and getting a ton of important interviews. There are so many impressive and inspiring people involved with this - and not just those in leadership - the participants themselves all bring an amazing amount of experience, practice and diligence.
