Andrea Du Cane's awesome Kettlebell Goddess Workout DVD (run time: 2 hours, 25 minutes)
Suddenly having access to a great outdoor training area has inspired me to step up my daily training and general activity level. Thankfully, by this age I've figured out that I can't go "all in" all the time. Recently, there's been a great series of articles by Dan John on DragonDoor.com and the first one (go read all five though) addresses the idea of consistency and continuity in training---and that most of our workouts should be on the medium-low level. This makes a lot of sense to me, especially now as I'm looking to add two days a week (hopefully schedule permits) of an 1.5 hour Systema class. When I took the trial class months ago (when I was considering moving to this area) I was impressed with the wonderful and mobility warm-up, and the fact that the training did get significantly strenuous (I judged this by my extreme need for dinner afterwards). Given that class is tonight, I didn't want to show up recovering from a crazy all out bashfest and not be able to keep up with my cool new friends.
I decided to use my they update this from time to time, so be sure to check here if you're preparing for an Certification!)Test weight for my weight class (women's open class 121-135lbs = ) (
are FINALLY back in stock, honestly, I was pretty bummed out that they were not available for Christmas gift giving. But they are back now! Ever since I first tried the rough prototypes (one was even slightly not level) back in 2013 or so, I've used them in my training. And yes, if you go to the page you'll see someone very familar in the demo photos. :)
Here's an unboxing video of, along with putting a friend of mine on the spot. Thankfully he was a good sport and did a great job. Don't let him (or me) fool you, these things require a LOT of control, proprioception, strength etc. Start easy, even if that means getting comfortable with knee push-ups, putting one leg out at a time, and planks. Honestly, those are great drills anyway even after you can do more fancy stuffl. I've become fond of burpees for a short set or two, just for the shock factor! :) Definitely not for beginners... don't do it!!!
Anyway I'll will be making morefocused how-tos for you, but in the mean time...
I've enjoyed variations of this little combo for a couple of years, it's always a lot of fun and can even feel a little bit like a game. Most recently a friend and I did the workout for 10 rounds followed by a more focused strength workout. If you have a group, you can even perform this as an interesting relay race. No matter how many rounds you choose, be sure to record the amount of time so that you can see how you improve the next time you give it another try.
BONUS Podcast Mini Episode: The SCC-HKC Combo with Adrienne Harvey, Senior PCC and Mike Krivka, Master RKC

This will be the first ever combo workshop weekend for the / , and if you register for both, you'll save $, if you register for both before April 30th, you'll save even more. Mike's facility, CrossFit Koncepts is absolutely ideal for BOTH and I really look forward to teaching there again.
Podcast with People Magazine's Sexiest Trainer Alive, and Inventor of Intrinsic Strength Training, Angelo Grinceri!
But FIRST! Here's how to do Angelo Grinceri's Intrinsic Strength Training Pull Ups!
One of the many reasons for this NYC trip was to meet up with some of the people I've been working with from a distance... and to talk them into podcasts when possible! Yesterday's meeting with Angelo Grinceri was a TON of fun. We’d already been babbling incessantly over Blue Bottle coffee, lamb salads, and Mast Brothers sheep’s milk chocolate–which was surprisingly and delightfully sheepy. Like sheep’s milk cheese and chocolate all at the same time. But when the conversation turned to grilled octopus I knew it was time to hit record… what follows is a rollicking conversation that traverses multiple subjects around more adventurous forms of health and fitness. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did! Keep watching for Angelo’s upcoming book with Publications, Intrinsic Strength Training. View full post here to see the embeded videos from training with Angelo!
