Andrea Du Cane's awesome Kettlebell Goddess Workout DVD (run time: 2 hours, 25 minutes)
Those who train with me know how much I love finding a new "fit trail"! Imagine the delight in finding a fit trail AND a large open field full of mostly soft grass, but not chemically treated to the point of the local soccer fields (those make me itch and that's freaky... and scary because... chemicals!). While this requires a little "scouting" to make sure no hands end up in ant hills, I always scout out the ground where I will be flinging myself around anyway. No nasty surprises, please...
Anyway, in honor of "Monkey Bar Monday" below is a workout video that I finally got around to editing for you! The circuit includes pullups,, cartwheels, and of course the monkey bars!
It takes courage to do cartwheels as an adult... watch how bad they are on my non-dominant side! HAHAHAH!!!
There's 3 rounds of this in the video! :) Hope you enjoy!
It's been fun to explore another part of the city a little, and I was thrilled to find that the fit trail on Lake Ivanhoe is well within a short walking distance of the coworking/makerspace.
Convict Conditioning Vol 2 all about hanging from one or two arms (along with towel hangs which are amazingly challenging) to develop grip strength, and I've been doing bar hangs at home about every other day usually for a minute or more. Current PR is 1 minute 30 seconds, and while I could have gone a little longer, I had a lot of typing to do that day and didn't want to risk it. As it was, my fingers were still a little numb after that session. A really fun way to get more time on the bar than you may thing is possible is to challenge a training partner (who is fairly well-matched in ability) to a hang contest. Sometimes a few of us will see who can stay in crow longest, etc. too, and with enough rest and finger you could even have both of these "grudge matches" in the same session. Definitely make sure your wrists and fingers are warmed up for both the hangs and the crows though, and it's also a great idea to repeat gentle wrist and finger mobility and throughout a session like that! There's a very cool (and very recommended) progression in

In other news, also last weekend, the brand new interview with Master RKC Dan John came out! It was great to interview him again, especially since so much has happened since our first interview years ago. There's a lot of great ideas, training philosophy, Dan-John-isms and of course several good chuckles in there too. Rememeber, "Keep the goal the goal."
Happy #MonkeyBarMonday everyone! For some of you who have seen the preview on, here's the whole thing... including the "spiders" obstacle.
While I am not in the least bit afraid of spiders (and at one point had about seven pet tarantulas) I am not about to just shove my hand through a spiderweb with the spider sitting in it looking right at me. HAHAHA!
Also after a hectic (but productive) week, I spent a fair amount of time slacklining. It's been a while since I have, mainly due to time and mostly due to nasty weather as rain and muddy ground is not conducive to a good time for Slacklining.
