The Leg DESTROYER - A boot camp workout for when you forgot your kettlebell....

YOU FORGOT YOUR KETTLEBELL?!?!?  Shame on you... seriously, like big time... or maybe you're on vacation and had to fly there?  For whatever reason, get your Gymboss timer out because its time to atone and tone.

First off, make sure to warm up well with some light stretching and/or joint mobility.   Take a little jog or do some jumping jacks, mountain climbers etc.  Get your heart rate up a little bit, then do a few body weight squats, keeping your weight in your heels, and sitting WAAAY back.

First Circuit:

You will do 3 sets of the following on EACH LEG - so a total of 6 sets.  Start with the left leg and do

A quick personal note about why kettlebells and body weight training work so well for me....

Some days are crazier than others, some are not crazy at all - those are usually the ones I reserve for massive amounts of sleeping.    One of the great things about kettlebell and bodyweight training that has been SO crucial for me is the efficiency of the training sessions themselves.   No more boring hours and hours at the gym, not to mention travel time to and from - which if you're in a heavily populated city can be a real issue.   So many people use "I don't have time!" as an excuse to neglect the NECESSITY of regular exercise, and frankly, kettlebells just blast right through that excuse.   Right along with "but I don't have room for exercise equipment...".   Anyway enough ranting.

Franz Snideman, Senior RKC, Interview - kettlebells, leadership, motivation and more

I am here today with Franz Snideman, Senior RKC, who was kind enough to take the time to answer a few questions.  Franz, how did you first discover kettlebells?

I first discovered kettlebells through my identical twin brother, named Keats Snideman.  He’s an RKC from Arizona.  I have always been into progressive new stuff in fitness, and in 2002, my brother said, “You’ve got to try these things called kettlebells.  They’re amazing.”  I bought a couple.  I was horrible at them.  I had no idea how to use them, and then in the fall of 2002, my clients and I found Pavel and we said, “This is the guy that we need to go learn from,” so we hired him.  We drove up to Santa Monica for a two hour private session with him at the Santa Monica beach.  It  literally changed the entire course of my career.  Pavel told me about his RKC certification, which was then probably only in its second year.  I think it started in ’01, maybe the end of 2000, so it was fairly new.  I took it in April of ’03 and the rest is history.

In Case You Missed It!

The new episode of includes a video clip of me assembling Girya Girl Style Bacon Cheeseburger as the Dragon Dish! Enjoy the whole program though - is always informative and entertaining. I met the host of the show,Amanda Salas, on the shuttle bus to the Orlando RKC site back in October. We had too much fun twittering back and forth and being silly - she's awesome!
