Good stuff, and yes, that's me on the left side of the cover  :)

Powers of the Get-Up, One HAND Pull Up Tips Via Video, American Ninja Warrior Application Turned In, and Upcoming Adventures

One Hand Pull Up Demo

First off, I want to introduce Sebastian Müller, RKC Team Leader over in Germany.  I was able to meet him at the 2013 PCC in Sweden (which was so epic that we are all still talking about it...).  Anyway, Sebastian has some absolutely great ideas about training, and this most recent he has contributed to the RKC Blog is certainly no exception!  While the kettlebell get-up is both loved and hated (and some people even oscillate between these two feelings DURING the exercise!) it's power and teaching potential cannot be denied.  If you are a beginner and a get-up hater, then take a few steps back and just work on the component parts of it.  Seriously -- taken as all 7 steps together, as a beginner a few years ago I was totally bewildered and overwhelmed by it.  Now? I can do them in my sleep (well ok I can do them before that necessary jolt of morning espresso).

The value of really learning and honing the get up is spelled out in detail here in Sebastian's article:
Five Things The Turkish Get-Up Teaches You About Life

So... you may have noticed (I hope) that I do not participate in the YouTube program of making $ from commercials on my videos.  Instead I've always opted to leave you useful product links in the video descriptions, mention products and things that I like in the videos which I may also be promoting in some capacity.  I only promote things I think are cool and that you will probably enjoy too.  SO you can look forward to NOT having to see some boring mainstream tv type commercial before any of my videos EVER.

That being said, I liked the new women's crop training tights from (use this link to sign up and get 50% off your first purchase and 20% off for life) SO MUCH that I had to show them off some before telling you a few tips about the advanced one-hand pull-up variation.  After the video, the tights were further tested with a grueling Ultimate Sandbag workout and performed very well.  They even kept my phone safe and out of the way (to the point that I forgot it was even there).  Anyway so that's in the beginning of the video below, but isn't very long, some of you may be interested in getting a pair of them too.

Speaking of videos and such.  I did actually factually manage to finish up that involved process of the online audition for American Ninja Warrior!  After being contacted by one of their casting associates last month (right before I was about to leave town for a few days) about sending in an audition, I started to step up my training a little bit and see if some of those most perplexing obstacles were even do-able for me.  The short answer is probably!  So I answered all 1,000 questions on the application (most of which seemed concerned with the non-athletic side of your life?!) sent 2 photos and a video audition mostly made up of little clips you've already seen from my YouTube Channel.

Here's one of the "obstacle experiments" I did last week - mind you I'd never done this here before and had no idea what would happen.  I think what happened came out pretty darn well:

ALSO the Encinitas PCC workshop is coming very soon, but if it's too soon for you, please check out all the fun opportuntites in 2015 to attend three jam-packed days of highly detailed progressive calisthenics training with the legendary Kavadlo brothers and assorted Senior PCC Instructors (like me) and PCC Team Leaders!  It's so fun to help people at the PCC workshops troubleshoot the exercises for themselves and for their clients back at home.

Hope to see you at an upcoming workshop soon!!! It's also a good idea to bookmark that PCC instructors link - if you are considering coming to a workshop and have questions, don't hesitate to reach out to Al, Danny, Myself, or any of the other Seniors or Team Leaders on the list for advice!  Also be sure to stay current with the PCC blog, we regularly post info about the workshops, testing and more!
