Going to warn you right off the bat - these bars are maybe a little bit too tasty.  All the dried fruit provides a tangy sweetness and complex flavor blend that's so often missing from energy and protein bars.  So those of you who can't eat just one may want to rethink getting hooked on these.  Thankfully they are a little on the expensive side so that may help you make the box of bars last a little longer.

These Chocolate Coconut Almond Crunch bars contain: dates, almonds, egg whites, goji berries, raisins, dried cherries, raw cacoa powder, unsweetened coconut, pumpkin seeds, coconut oil, honey, flax seeds, almond extract, sea salt, spirulina, and cinnamon.  

The addition of the egg whites gives them a little bit of a protein boost too - bringing up the grams per bar to 8.  While in the scheme of protein bars that is not exactly ground breaking, the source of the protein and it's subsequent high digestability is more important to me when selecting a bar these days.  If I want mega protein, then it's time for steak (or one of my infamous home made taco salads that may contain up to or over 3/4lb ground grassfed beef!).  

These bars are correctly labeled as "energy bars" is in -- they're a little higher carb than what I'd normally seek out for a snack unless I'm having an especially active day.   These are IDEAL bars for active workshop days.  A good solid 200 calories, easy soft texture that's quick to eat (if necessary, though I would encourage you to savor these), and gentle on the stomach.  

Interestingly enough, I know the lady who came up with these delicious bars -- Eileen Forte, the MOM of my local friend and fellow fitness professional, Alicia!  I'll let you go to the Paleo Simplified website for the whole story, but in short, Eileen discovered Paleo through Alicia and really made a radical transformation.   She was further inspired to create something that would help others in their quest for health.  Hince the bars.  A lot of people don't really like the idea of bars, but I'm a HUGE fan of them for travel and convenience foods. These bars are some of my favorites in terms of ingredients, digestability, and shelf stability.   No need to refrigerate and -- this is very important -- they pair well with coffee or green tea (or water if you're in a sportier situation!)
