(And I got to put a cinderblock on him too!) Andrea Du Cane's Kettlebell Goddess Workout DVD

Going to be honest with you, this is one of my favorite workout DVDs in the whole wide world. Its so good that if I find out that one of my clients already owns it, I give them "homework assignments" from it for when they or I am out of town.


The Power Breathing section is fantastic - the instructional portions are great for anyone to review. Which brings me to the next point - sure this is obviously a "women's workout DVD" but... frankly the exercises and workout programs on it will work wonders for men too. You can follow a set program, or try your hand at a little program design by choosing from the different goddess themed workouts or from the individual focus sections. Done with proper form, sufficient weight and focus you will get a serious workout - I don't care HOW advanced you are!


During the workout portions, Andrea Du Cane, Nicole Du Cane, and Kristann Heinz demonstrate the exercises - often doing scaled up or scaled down versions so you can see all three at once. I think that is a fantastic feature. Its also great to see these exercises performed by people who ACTUALLY practice with kettlebells regularly - these women are the real deal, not just some hired fitness models who show up and go through the motions.

This DVD changed my body and my life. I was hearing a lot of buzz about kettlebells on Twitter last year but couldn't find any certified trainers in my rural area. I got a 20lb KB as a gift and had been trying to find my way using online instructions and YouTube videos but I knew I needed more if I was going to get good results and avoid injury. I asked Twitter for DVD suggestions and got several for The Kettlebell Goddess Workout, so I bought it. It's fantastic! I went through the Quick Start Review to get the basics, and then jumped right in with the workouts. At first I couldn't do more than 1-2 reps of certain exercises, so I did swings to fill the time. I was shocked how quickly I gained strength, and even from session to session my improvement was remarkable. Before long I needed a 35lb KB for anything that didn't require an overhead lift. The joint mobility warmup and cooldown stretching segments are great and I really love that I can customize my sessions. I often like to do a pre-programmed workout and then if I have time add several drills to the end of it. I like that it doesn't have obnoxious music or all those other stupid elements that workout videos for women often seem to have. It's no-nonsense and no-frills, with all the instruction I need and none of the junk that would make me hate it. It has tons of variety, I never get sick of it. Occasionally I look online for additional fine-tuning help on some of the exercises, mostly for confirmation that I've got the position correct. But overall, as a highly-motivated beginner I found this DVD was all I needed to fall in love with kettlebells and get the best results I've ever gotten. I'm constantly telling anyone who will listen that I get better results from 10-30 minutes of kettlebells a few days a week than I used to get spending 1-2hrs at the gym. It's true! Between my job, my commute, and my kids, going to a gym is logistically impossible, so being able to do kettlebells at home after my kids are in bed is key. The fact that I love doing it just confirms that I finally found the perfect path to fitness for me. I'll be 41 in a few weeks and I have never been stronger or more fit. I've been a paleo/primal-leaning low-carber for many many years and attribute my fitness to this great combination. I had already been losing my baby weight when I started kettlebells, but in the 10 months since then I have further whittled my figure, and I'm not done. I always thought I was a big person but I'm about to replace my size 34 bras with 32. 32! When I was slim in the past I was always a 36-38. No more back fat! My ab obliques, scary to me at first, make me feel so strong. Saddlebags? Going going gone. I was worried about losing my hourglass figure but I needn't have. My hips have never been narrower but I still have that .70 differential. I am still soft and curvy but strong as anything, and I can't tell you how much I enjoy flexing in the mirror and seeing how much my hard work has paid off. ;) Buy this DVD!
